DS Newsletter – Primary – 09 March 2024

Dear Parents, Another busy week at Dubai Scholars.  We had two spectacular concerts featuring our very talented Year 5 and 6 students. Amazing work by the Performing Arts Department and the respective grade teachers who were instrumental in these performances. Amazing. Earlier this week you would have received a memo from my office regarding re-enrollment. For us to continue to plan all these wonderful events, we need to have all of our current families re-enroll for next year to secure their spot.  Please revisit that communiqué and familiarize yourself with the important dates and information. It was great to see most of our parent community last Saturday at our annual Fiesta. We had the biggest turnout to date. Each year I am impressed by the amazing talent ofour community, from our Parent groups, students, and faculty. It is events like these that make DS not only a special place to educate your children but also a great place to be. Thank you for your support. Across all phases, academics continue to be in full swing. From our Mock exams to all of our culminations, we continue to ensure that all of our students achieve the highest possible academic success. As the holy month of Ramadan approaches, we extend our warmest greetings and heartfelt blessings to you and your families. Ramadan is a time of reflection, devotion, and community, and we are honored to share this sacred time with you as part of our school family. During Ramadan, Muslims around the world observe fasting from dawn until sunset, engage in increased prayer and reflection, and seek to deepen their connection with Allah. It is a time of spiritual renewal, self-discipline, and acts of charity and kindness. As we embark on this blessed journey, we encourage you to take this opportunity to strengthen your bonds with your loved ones, cultivate compassion and empathy toward others, and strive for personal growth and self-improvement. May this Ramadan bring you peace, joy, and spiritual fulfillment. May your prayers be answered, your fasts be accepted, and your hearts be filled with gratitude and love. As a school community, let us come together to support and uplift one another during this special time. Let us show kindness and understanding towards those who are fasting, and let us embrace the values of compassion, generosity, and unity that are at the heart of Ramadan. On behalf of the entire school staff, we wish you and your families a blessed Ramadan. Frank Scarcelli Head of School Read More

DS Newsletter – Secondary – 24 February 2024

Dear Parents, As we have passed the half point of the term, and look forward to our spring break, I want to take a moment to express our gratitude for your ongoing support and partnership in your child’s education journey. We hope this message finds you well and ready to enjoy a well-deserved break during the half-term holiday. As we look ahead to the remainder of the term, we have many exciting activities and learning opportunities planned for our students. From engaging lessons and creative projects to enriching extracurricular activities, we are committed to providing a dynamic and supportive learning environment for all. DS Creative Collaborations: This Saturday, our senior school students were engaged in a collaborative inquiry project bringing real-world issues and applying their critical thinking skills to find innovative solutions. We are so thankful for all the parents who attended to support their child’s learning by engaging in discussions about the topics being explored and encouraging curiosity and creativity at home. Our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) students were treated to Mystery Reader sessions this past week. Parents were invited to surprise our little ones by visiting the classroom and reading a favorite story. Please stay tuned for future parent sessions. Primary Emirati Culture Day is a wonderful opportunity for our students to celebrate and learn more about the rich heritage and traditions of the United Arab Emirates. Students participated in various cultural activities, presentations, and performances. Students were encouraged to embrace the spirit of the day by dressing in traditional clothing if possible. On this occasion, our lower primary classes celebrated Haq Al Laila, which falls in the middle of Sha’aban. This coming Wednesday, Feb 28 we have our senior school concert, Upside Down, based on Netflix Stranger Things. We are very excited about this production. Our Year 5 and 6 concerts will be showcased on March 5 and 6 respectively. Finally, a reminder that our annual DS Fiesta will run once again on March 2. Please mark the date in your calendar. That is an event not to miss. I hope to see you all there. Frank Scarcelli Head of School Read More

DS Newsletter – Secondary – 11 February 2024

Dear Parents, We hope this email finds you well. We’re excited to share with you a recap of the fantastic events that took place this past week at Dubai Scholars: Secondary Sports Week and Primary Math and Science Week! Secondary Sports Week: This past week, our secondary students showcased their athleticism, teamwork, and sportsmanship during Secondary Sports Week. The campus was buzzing with energy as students competed in various activities including flat races, relay races, and more. It was incredible to witness the dedication and passion our students brought to each game and competition. While we did have individual winners who were recognized with medallions, all students were winners as physical well-being was paramount. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all participants for their hard work and determination, particularly our Physical Education staff, Student Council, and all the Faculty for their support and encouragement. Well done to all our student-athletes! Primary Synapseuss Mathstravaganza: Meanwhile, our primary students delved into the fascinating worlds of mathematics and science during Primary Synapseuss Mathstravaganza. The entire week, our young learners engaged in hands-on experiments, interactive activities, and exciting challenges designed to spark their curiosity and ignite their passion for STEM subjects. It was inspiring to see our students’ enthusiasm as they explored various scientific concepts and mathematical principles. Through their participation and eagerness to learn, they demonstrated creativity, critical thinking, and a love for discovery. We want to express our gratitude to all parents who supported these events by attending, volunteering, or simply cheering on our students. Your involvement is nvaluable and contributes to the vibrant spirit of our school community. As we reflect on the success of Secondary Sports Week and Primary Synapseuss Mathstravaganza, we are reminded of the importance of holistic education in nurturing well-rounded individuals. We are incredibly proud of our students for their achievements and commend them for their dedication to both sports and academics. Thank you once again for your continued support and involvement in our school community. We look forward to sharing more exciting events and activities with you in the future.
