Dubai Scholars Newsletter 12 March 2023

Dear Parents, The Scholars fiesta is one such event when the entire community of Dubai Scholars gets together and celebrates a day filled with fun and happiness. I was particularly amazed to see the performances of our students and staff, they were absolutely wonderful. As the Head of School, I am highly appreciative of our Performing Arts and Physical Education departments, they put up great show as Concerts and Sports Days. Nothing of this is possible without the support of our committed teachers and admin staff. On that note wishing all the members of DS Community a wonderful week ahead! Dubai Scholars Newsletter 04 March 2023

Dear Parents, Wearing the hat of the Head of School is a privilege especially when I browse through all our weekly initiatives, I feel extremely proud to share that children and teachers are looking to experience more from their years in education, seeking the skills that not only prepare them for exam or tests but for the real world. Students want the freedom to excel in the areas for which they have passion and interest, while parents and children alike are seeking an education that’s more in tune with each child’s unique needs and skills. This holistic approach at DS is being built on the idea that children can be taught in a more natural and engaging way, inspiring a love of learning that lasts their whole life long. While maintaining a solid base in core subjects – such as mathematics, language, and science – we continue to motivate students to learn naturally through curiosity and creativity. It also means adapting to fit each child’s unique abilities and interests. We see children often develop greater confidence in their abilities while gaining crucial skills needed for a successful career in almost any field. In the best examples of this method, children are no longer confined to the classroom, but out in the community, participating in various competitions, organising events, and learning the far-reaching value of creative expression. This way, students are exposed to a world of opportunity and knowledge that once would have been closed off. Like every week, I am happy to share this week’s newsletter which shows the best at every stage. Thanking you for your continued support. Frank Scarcelli Head of School Read More

Celebrating Student Achievements Unstoppable Hope: A Golden Start to 2023 Swimming Season This is how Julie Daniella Hope started her racing for 2023 and is glad to share a gist of her success! She is a student of Year 8 F at Dubai Scholars. First swimming meet of the year, Emirates Cup Competitive Meet 2023 Long Course (50m) was held at the Hamdan Sports Complex on 4th & 5th February confirmed to the standards of the swimming federation .The event was refereed by Internationally qualified referees, and was attended by 500+ swimmers. Julie was exposed to a completely different approach during this extremely competitive meet where she moved away from her comfort zone. The six races she took part in were to ensure she was stretched to the maximum by swimming her least preferred races. She left aside her usual victory- guaranteed freestyle and backstroke races and took up 100m Fly, 200m IM and 50m sprints on all 4 strokes to gain confidence and thereby built her inner strength. Yes, she still proved it’s possible with a Gold on 50m Free, Bronze on 100m Fly and being in the top 10 under 13 age categories. Hard work and commitment always pay off! Well done to our champion. Empowering Future Leaders: The Harvard Model Congress Harvard Model Congress is an eye-opening experience for students to model the roles of members in Congress and discuss, negotiate and resolve real world issues ranging from Wars and conflict to climate change. Congratulations to our students Abhinav Shankar, Yehansa Bamini, Christa Thomas, Tanisha Goyal, Sithumdi Jayawardhana Best delegates: Sithumdi Jayawardhana and Tanisha Goyal Sithumdi Jayawardhana Tanisha Goyal Read More

Dear Dubai Scholars Parents, When kids enjoy an activity, they want to do more of it. Practicing a skill — whether it’s playing basketball on the field or riding a cycle — improves their abilities and helps them feel accomplished. It is great to see all our students enjoying and participating in the annual sports days. I request all stakeholders continue to encourage them for playing sports and enjoy the games that they wish to play. I take this opportunity to thank all parents who visit the school campus and participate in events and activities with their children. Frank Scarcelli Head of School Read More

Dubai Scholars Newsletter 29 January 2023

Dear Dubai Scholars Parents, Every week that passes by, we find it fulfilling to see all children come to school and enjoy their experiences. The weather this week has been comforting as well as challenging, but it does make us appreciate the joy that every season brings. Reading Books can add further joy and develop curiosity and a sense of imagination in our students. As a professional community, we try our best to stimulate an attitude of inquiry by posing challenges or novel ideas. All ideas are developed through skills. One of the skills that need attention and students need to develop are their Reading Skills. We request our parents to ensure students pick up books to read. Regular reading routines can offer lots of opportunities for learning. In the coming weeks, we will ensure that as an institution we focus on building the skill, interest, and love for Reading. It was indeed a great week with a lot of enthusiasm. Looking forward to the weeks to come! Frank Scarcelli Head of School Read More

Dear Dubai Scholars Parents, As the Head of the School, I am extremely delighted that we are a part of an amazing learning community such as Dubai Scholars. The second week into the new year and we’ve set the right tone across all the phases of the school. The fun and cheer of FS1 & FS2 students as they celebrated the sports days, were filled with high levels of enthusiasm. An excellent performance by students of Year 4 at the concert. If the audience reaction was anything to go by, the show was a huge success. A huge well done to the students, our Performing Arts team, and Teachers from the Primary. Boys from Year Groups 9 to 11 truly immersed themselves in the sports activities organised by the Senior Sports Council. It was indeed a pleasure to watch them play a variety of sports. On the 10th of January 2023, the halls of the Indian Consulate resounded with the voices of children who came together as a choir of 110 students strong, to celebrate and show their love for the Hindi Language. Students of Dubai Scholars had the honour to be a part of the choir. Teachers from the faculty and our Vice Principal graced the occasion with their speeches and orchestration. Looking forward to a lot more eventful and magical buzz that the school is ready to create! Frank Scarcelli Head of School Read More
