Going Above and Beyond

Lead by Mr. Frank Scarcelli, Head of School, Dubai Scholars educators are committed to teaching standards that allow children to build confidence as they challenge themselves.

Senior Leadership Team (SLT)

My name is Frank Scarcelli, and I am extremely excited to be re-joining the Dubai Scholars Community as your Principal next year. After four years at DS and six years in the UAE, I had decided to take time off to spend with family back home in Canada but maintained my connection to many of my students, alumni, parents, and staff at Dubai Scholars.

Over 40 years in education and raising three children, my educational philosophy is quite simple. I believe that every child has a unique set of abilities and talents and given the appropriate nurturing environment they learn at their individualised pace.

It is indeed my strong belief that students feel safe and supported in their pursuit of knowledge when offered enhanced opportunities to be involved in a multitude of scholastic and co-scholastic activities which thereby helps them to enrich their school life making it meaningful and engaging.

Mr. Frank Scarcelli
Head of School
Educator for over 40 years

The last three DSIB inspection reports have been extremely encouraging and are in sync with our school’s vision and my educational philosophy.

Working closely with educators and parents over four decades, I completely recognize that to be a successful institution, our children need support from both home and school. I, thank you for entrusting your child’s education and growth with Dubai Scholars.

As partners, we share the responsibility for your children’s success and want you to be rest assured that we are here to build a community of learners, make learning relevant, let students know that we care about them, incorporate active learning, and make learning fun.

Under my leadership, the academic faculty and administration shall continue to strive for the progress of a legacy that continues to grow above and beyond. I am excited and looking forward to reinforcing Dubai’s Scholars’ position as one of the leading British schools in Dubai.

We welcome you to yet another invigorating year in school.

As the Head of Administration, my primary focus is to ensure the effective and efficient operation of our school. Me and my dedicated team work diligently to create a positive and nurturing environment where students can thrive academically, emotionally, and socially.

From managing day-to-day administrative tasks to collaborating with teachers, parents, and stakeholders, we strive to foster a strong sense of community and open communication. Our goal is to provide a safe, inclusive, and inspiring space for all our students to learn and grow.

We are committed to continuous improvement, seeking ways to enhance our educational programs, facilities, and resources. Together, we aim to prepare our students for success in a rapidly changing world, equipping them with the skills and knowledge they need to achieve their dreams.

I am honoured to have the opportunity to lead the FS Section of the school that has such a rich tradition of education. After having been dedicated to the field of education for more than twenty-six years, I have worked with a variety of learners’ ranging in age from FS to Primary in varied positions. I started my career in Dubai 14 years back as the Academic Head of Foundation Stage and Primary at the British Institute for Learning Development. I am excited and eager to bring my skills as an educational leader to Dubai Scholars School and work with you as a partner in education to ensure your child’s success.

Ms. Remy Dias

Every child is unique in their own right. They can only become independent and strong learners if given the sense of security, love, and guidance necessary, in an Enabled Environment. Children need the freedom that allows for expression and creativity. A child exuberant and inquisitive drives my commitment to help nurture creativity. I believe in exploring and unlocking each child’s potential through a holistic approach.

Ms. Fauzia Waheed

Having taught in esteemed institutions of Muscat, Kuwait, and in Dubai for more than a decade, I have extensive experience as an educational leader in the primary phase.

My vision and mission are well aligned with the ethos of Dubai Scholars, and I strive to achieve strong positive connections with my students, so that they become independent, build confidence and achieve their full academic potential. As an educator I strongly believe in providing a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment to all my students.

Ms. Sheerin Ahmed
Head of Primary
Educator for 11 years

I believe, an educator of the 21st Century essentially takes on the role of a mentor. It is essential that the mentor provides specific and meaningful positive feedback and encouragement to students as it is important that students build up their confidence and develop intrinsic motivation. The joy, the challenges, and the uniqueness that every child brings in every day makes a journey of an educator fulfilling and gratifying.

Ms. Sapna Changrani

Head of Secondary

Key Stage Leaders (KSL)

Being an educator at DS for the last 6 years, has led me to believe that the role of an educator is merely that of a facilitator to good education, beliefs and understanding. Our students have amazing abilities and potential, they are active learners and have shown us their true ability to adapt during the last few years. I, strongly agree that with the right guidance, we can create a future of thinkers, explorers and above all, independent lifelong learners!

Ms. Candice Dsouza
Leader - Key Stage 1

I firmly believe that all children are unique and must have a stimulating educational environment where they can grow physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially. I will constantly strive to provide our students with an atmosphere where they can meet their full potential in a safe environment, where they are invited to take risks, express, and accept themselves for who they are, as well as embrace the differences of others.

My name is Jeoffrey Oswald Mendonca, and I’m delighted to be a part of the DS Leadership Team.
My journey as an educator stated 21 years ago in India. I have spent the last 14 years in the UAE. I’ve been into different leadership roles before, and the experience has always been enriching. Both as a teacher and leader, I believe in the philosophy that every child deserves the best learning experience wherever they may be. When a child enters the school doors, it’s our responsibility to give them an environment that is comfortable to learn at their own pace and time. I love to see students going home happy to return the next day with more excitement.

With 30 years of experience as an Educator, I am committed to giving students the tools they need to see their own value, analyze information and situations, and effectively solve problems. My educational philosophy is to create a welcoming space for all learners and for them to be prepared for the world. Using case studies, real-life examples, and thought-provoking questions, I encourage students to consider their role and how they fit in society.

Ms. Lydia Dias

Teaching young minds cannot be taken lightly. It is full of challenges and responsibilities. However, it is a task that is also full of excitement, wonder and joy. I strongly believe that all children are capable of learning if they have a balanced learning environment and direction from their teachers.
I, as an educator, am aware of the learning, motivation, behaviour, and development models related to the students and push my students to reach their full potential.
